Thanks very much for writing up my talk. I too was frustrated with having to use the translator.

Basically, because I had an hour, I only covered the more basic ideas I have about microblogging and why I think it’s really interesting. So yeah, not so much new was revealed. I’m sorry about that.

My thoughts about microblogging are that the collapsing of contexts is really rapid. In other words, people who don’t know each other, begin to build trust as they engage in conversations over time, much faster than I’ve seen in any other public online system. Yes.. I know that people do it in facebook and myspace, as well as in gaming like in WOW, but with the limitations of the lack of quick responses or like in WOW, working only within your guild, you just don’t see the same broad collapsing of barriers to build conversation and trust.

Microblogging presents the confluence of collapsing time and space down to the smallest units possible for often asymmetric discussion. That with the collapsed barriers of context (who you are, your own circles verses some others, your understanding verses others) really is a shift that I think we can’t deny has huge implications.

¡¡No quedan tampoco tan mal!!

Yo a Twitter siempre le he visto el mismo fallo: el uso que hace la gente de él me parece en su mayoría ridículo, y como remate ofrece la posibilidad de contestar pero una dificultad tremenda para poder mantener una conversación coherente. A poco que te relaciones con los demás les contestarás cosas, y quien lo quiere seguir no se entera de nada.

En ese sentido me parece que Plurk es una idea muchísimo mejor en la cual puedes hacer lo mismo que en Twitter pero al menos las conversaciones son coherentes, tiene sentido de un sólo vistazo. Ah, y no se cae cada 5 minutos.
